Government Report on Higher Education and Disability (2009)  (Research based)

In this Report to the Chair, Committee on Education and Labor, House of Representatives, the Government Accountability Office compiled information about how postsecondary schools are supporting students with disabilities, the challenges, and how the Department of Education can assist. The recommendation was "that the Secretary of Education develop and implement a coordinated approach to optimize agency resources and knowledge in providing technical assistance to postsecondary schools in supporting students with disabilities.”

"July 26 marks the 19th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.... the ADA's provisions include the right to seek, obtain, pursue and maintain employment without being hampered by physical or attitudinal barriers. I believe that having a job is a civil right. Those who are qualified for and want to work should not be denied that right because of an inaccessible building or an outdated set of assumptions about what they can or cannot do..."
